Musician Elvis Costello is marking an atypical anniversary with a special retrospective edition of his 1977 debut album, deliberately choosing 49 years over the more conventional 50-year milestone. Rather than treating the album as a historical artifact, Costello has opted for a comprehensive package exploring the full creative context surrounding the original release.

The collection arrives in October 2026 as a five-disc box set featuring over one hundred recordings, more than half previously unreleased. The package includes newly remastered audio sourced from original master tapes, multiple versions of early songs, archival live performances, studio demos, and extensive written reflections from Costello alongside contributions from notable musicians and bandmates who participated in the album's creation.
