An accidental car fire broke out on Meynell Road near Southey Green in Sheffield this morning, occurring just yards from a primary school as youngsters began their journeys to lessons. The vehicle ignited around 8:10am, generating a visible plume of black smoke that persisted even as the school opened its gates.

Emergency responders from Elm Lane fire station arrived at the scene and controlled the fire, clearing the area by 8:50am. No casualties or injuries were reported, and the fire service confirmed the incident was accidental in nature.
