Emilia Jones will lead Netflix’s limited-series adaptation of “The Retrievals”, a drama based on the New York Times and Serial Productions podcast. The series centres on IVF patients who unite to take legal action against Yale University after egg-retrieval procedures were allegedly carried out without anaesthesia because a clinic nurse had stolen fentanyl.
Jones will play Gabby Clemente, a New Haven bartender and student teacher whose traumatic surgery prompts her to find other affected patients and lead the case. Molly Smith Metzler is writer, executive producer and showrunner; LuckyChap, co-founded by Margot Robbie, is producing, and Lila Neugebauer will direct and executive produce the pilot.
