‘Emily In Paris’ Tweaks Production Schedule Following Minnie Driver’s Car Accident In France

Deadline ·

Actress Minnie Driver has been involved in a serious car accident in rural France while filming the sixth and final season of Netflix's "Emily In Paris," in which she plays recurring character Princess Jane. Driver revealed the crash in an Instagram "Paris Update" video, saying she was back home in London recovering with a sprained neck. She was not working when the collision occurred, and it happened during off-set time.

Driver said the accident was a T-bone crash on a country road, and she credited the Kia EV2 she and a friend were travelling in with helping her walk away, describing herself as "grateful to be alive." Production has largely continued unaffected, with only one of her scenes rescheduled due to a pre-planned break, and she is expected to resume filming once she recovers. The show previously adjusted for co-star Ashley Park's 2024 recovery from septic shock in similar fashion.

In short

  • Minnie Driver was in a serious car crash in rural France
  • She suffered a sprained neck but is recovering in London
  • "Emily In Paris" production largely unaffected, only one scene moved

Explained simply

Emily in Paris is a Netflix comedy-drama about an American woman working in Paris. Minnie Driver plays Princess Jane, a recurring character, in its sixth and final season.

The show is filmed in France, but cast members may also be there during time away from work. Changes to a filming schedule can depend on when an actor is well enough to return and how their scenes fit around the rest of production.

The series has previously adjusted its schedule around a cast member’s recovery from illness. Such changes can affect individual scenes without necessarily disrupting filming as a whole.
