Emma-Jean Thackray Reinterprets Miles Davis’ ‘Tutu’

Emma-Jean Thackray has released her interpretation of Miles Davis’s ‘Tutu’ as part of a project reworking his music from a contemporary perspective. The Mercury Prize-nominated musician says Davis has been a long-standing inspiration, and the release grew out of rehearsals for a performance at Ronnie Scott’s in London.

The project, ‘Dear Miles: A Love Letter’, is available now as a limited-edition vinyl release and is due to arrive on streaming services on 4 December. Thackray recalls first discovering Davis’s music by chance while learning a brass-band solo piece, finding his version of ‘Concerto de Aranjuez’ online.
