End of an era as much-loved Sheffield café to close after 23 years
Bragazzis, a café, delicatessen and shop on Sheffield’s Abbeydale Road, will close at the end of February 2027 after 23 years in business. Its owners said sustained economic pressures mean the independent business is no longer viable, marking the loss of a longstanding local gathering place.
The business opened in 2003 and says it will trade as usual until Saturday 27 February 2027. It thanked its staff, customers and family for their support; customers have praised its coffee, food and welcoming atmosphere, and described its role in the local community.
In short
- Sheffield’s Bragazzis will close in February 2027.
- The café and shop has served the city for 23 years.
- Owners cite sustained economic pressure on small businesses.
Explained simply
Bragazzis is an independent café, delicatessen and shop on Abbeydale Road in Sheffield. It opened in 2003 and has served coffee and food while providing a place for local people to meet.
Independent cafés rely on income from customers to cover costs such as ingredients, wages and rent. When those pressures make a business unviable, its closure can affect both the people who work there and the neighbourhood where it has become part of everyday life.
