Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson received a technical foul during the Indiana Fever's 99-89 playoff victory on Tuesday after confronting a Fever fan who had stood and pointed at her following a foul call against the Fever. Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom called for Wilson to be suspended or ejected, arguing that the WNBA should apply the same standards to players who approach spectators as it does to fans who approach the court. The incident raises questions about consistency in how player-fan confrontations are disciplined under league rules.

Arena security determined the fan had violated no conduct rules and found nothing unacceptable in his behaviour. According to WNBA Rule 12A, Section V, players who deliberately enter the spectator stands should be automatically ejected, yet Wilson received only a technical foul. Freedom drew parallels to his own August confrontation with Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud, during which he was removed from the arena and subsequently banned from Sky home games—a decision he is now challenging with a federal lawsuit. Wilson, however, offered a different account after the game, stating the fan had stepped and pointed towards her in an unacceptable manner.
