England’s men’s amputee football team may be unable to compete at November’s World Cup in Mexico because it lacks sufficient funding. Former head coach Scott Rogers called the situation “criminal”, arguing that players, staff and families make major sacrifices while the team relies on donations despite representing England and holding the Nations League title.

The team is seeking £50,000 through GoFundMe and has raised £32,427 so far. Funding for the amputee programme was cut in 2006, and although the FA has supported other para national teams and made a later offer, the association considered it inadequate; it now operates as a charity staffed largely by volunteers. England reached the last 16 at the 2022 World Cup, while several rival nations support players as full-time professionals.
