England’s Emily Campbell retained her Commonwealth Games women’s +86kg weightlifting title with a record-breaking performance, reinforcing her position among the sport’s leading athletes. The 32-year-old lifted a Games-record total of 278kg, including a Commonwealth clean and jerk record of 163kg and a 115kg snatch. Malaysia’s Siti Aqilah Farhana Draman won silver with 253kg and Canada’s Etta Mae Love took bronze with 250kg; England’s Cyrille Tchatchet II also won men’s 110kg silver with 374kg, 12 years after fleeing Cameroon’s team base and later receiving asylum in the UK.
