Entitled NYC judge keeps dumping garbage outside her home… then playing the ‘Don’t you know who I am?’ card to avoid fines
New York judge Katherine Levine was admonished by the state’s judicial conduct commission after repeatedly invoking her position while disputing or seeking to reduce sanitation fines for rubbish left outside her Brooklyn home. The commission said her conduct risked using the prestige of judicial office to advance her private interests and undermined standards expected of judges.
Levine received three $50 summonses in 2024 and 2025: one for accumulated rubbish and two for bins left without their lids. After not paying the first fine and failing to respond to the later summonses, default judgments raised those two fines to $300 each. In emails and a voicemail to the city hearing office, she cited her judicial duties and asked about avoiding a hearing; the commission said she expressed remorse and had no prior disciplinary history.
