Envie – “Violently Friendly”
East London trio Envie, formerly known as Dystopia, have returned with a new single called "Violently Friendly", marking their reintroduction under a fresh name after a lengthy hiatus. The band's Bandcamp page under the Dystopia name had been inactive since 2020, though the members previously featured on FKA twigs' "Which Way" from her Caprisongs project, giving them a notable prior credit before this reboot.
The track was uploaded as a practice-space recording on a newly created YouTube account, and is described as a punchy, sarcastic rock song with a bright, melodic feel. According to the band, the song addresses the frustration of maintaining a friendship when the other person keeps pushing for something romantic, framing it as being about setting boundaries and wanting the other person to accept that friendship is enough.
