Epic Games Launcher is coming to SteamOS

Epic Games has confirmed that its Epic Games Launcher will support SteamOS, extending its plans to make the preview launcher available on more Linux distributions. This gives SteamOS users a route to access Epic’s game store, but it does not confirm that Fortnite will run on SteamOS.

Communications Director Jake Jones said the company is testing packaging formats and aims to support Fedora, SteamOS, Cachy, Omarchy and other distributions. Epic also plans to restore AppImage downloads this month after offering Debian and Ubuntu packages. Fortnite compatibility remains uncertain because the Steam Deck lacks features required for Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat v2 system; Epic says it is discussing possible support with Valve.
