Euro-Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch Program Launches at Iberseries & Platino Industria in Madrid (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety ·

Iberseries & Platino Industria, the Madrid industry event, has launched a new Euro-Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch Program aimed at helping European television projects progress towards financing, production and distribution. Organised separately from the event's existing Coproduction & Financing Forum, the initiative connects developing series with potential partners through one-to-one and group meetings, reflecting the broader push within Europe's TV industry to foster international co-productions across borders.

The pitch sessions take place on 29 September, with a public presentation the following day at Cineteca Matadero. The inaugural edition, overseen by general coordinator Rodrigo Ros, features a selection committee of industry figures from Spain, Portugal and Belgium, and brings together nine projects from Spain, Belgium, France, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Canada and Uruguay, plus two additional projects invited via partnerships with Sweden's Göteborg Film Festival and Germany's Seriencamp. The line-up spans genres including drama, thriller, sports documentary and comedy, among them "Callback", "Heartbeats", "In Memoriam – Season 2" and "The Invisible Ink". Iberseries & Platino Industria runs from 29 September to 2 October in Madrid.

In short

  • New Madrid pitch programme launches to boost European TV co-productions
  • Nine projects from nine countries selected for first edition
  • Pitching happens 29 September, public showcase 30 September

Explained simply

European television projects often need funding and industry partners from more than one country to reach production and audiences. Co-production brings together companies, broadcasters or other partners across borders, who may share costs, expertise and distribution.

Iberseries & Platino Industria is a Madrid event for the television and audiovisual industries, where professionals meet to develop and finance projects. The new programme is designed to connect series in development with potential partners; it is separate from the event’s existing Coproduction & Financing Forum.

The projects come from several European countries, as well as Canada and Uruguay, and range from drama and comedy to documentaries. Such schemes matter because they can help projects find the resources and international connections needed to be made and shown to viewers in different markets.
