European football: Dortmund win again but Freiburg top after Gladbach rout

Borussia Dortmund maintained their perfect start to the Bundesliga season with a 3-0 home win over promoted Paderborn, thanks to Fábio Silva and a double from substitute Felix Nmecha, marking Dortmund's best opening to a campaign in 11 years. Freiburg, however, moved top of the table after thrashing a 10-man Borussia Mönchengladbach 5-0, while Augsburg's brief spell at the summit ended with a 2-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen.

Elsewhere in Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt claimed their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Mainz, and West Ham loanee Niclas Füllkrug continued his fine form by scoring for Werder Bremen in a 1-1 draw at Cologne. In Spain, Kylian Mbappé scored twice as Real Madrid beat Rayo Vallecano 4-1 to move level on 12 points with league leaders Barcelona, while in Italy, Diego Moreira's double helped Milan fight back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Serie A pacesetters Lazio.
