European Production Association CEPI Welcomes Canadian Bodies As First International Members
CEPI has made Canada’s CMPA and AQPM its first international observer members, extending cooperation between European and Canadian independent production organisations. The move matters because the groups plan to coordinate advocacy on shared challenges facing local producers and storytelling.
CEPI represents 3,000 independent production companies across 17 countries through 19 national associations and one European association. The three organisations will work on issues including streaming regulation, domestic production requirements, intellectual property and co-productions; AQPM also highlighted generative AI, cultural diversity and sovereignty.
In short
- CMPA and AQPM join CEPI as its first international observer members.
- The groups will coordinate advocacy on shared production issues.
- Their priorities include streaming rules, rights and local storytelling.
