Everything But the Girl Ready New Album Blue Reservoir

Pitchfork ·

Everything But the Girl have announced *Blue Reservoir*, their first album since 2023’s *Fuse*, which followed a 24-year break. The new record brings Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt back to a direct, guitar-led sound shaped in part by their residency at London’s Moth Club.

The album contains 10 original songs and is due on 19 February via Buzzin’ Fly/Virgin Music Group. The announcement is accompanied by “Young and Dumb”, with a video filmed at Moth Club. Watt wrote and performed much of the record on Spanish nylon-string guitar, joined by longtime collaborators Rex Horan on double bass, Evan Jenkins on drums and percussionist Fabio de Oliveira.

Explained simply

Everything But the Girl are the British duo Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, who began making music together in the 1980s. Their sound has moved between acoustic pop, electronic music and dance, and the two have also released work separately.

After a long break, Thorn and Watt returned as a duo with 2023’s Fuse. Their later live performances at London’s Moth Club helped shape a more direct, guitar-led approach, with Watt joined by longtime collaborators on bass, drums and percussion.

The album’s release marks a continuation of the duo’s return to making music together. It also connects their newer work with the guitar-based sound that was part of their earlier career.
