Pre-orders for “Grand Theft Auto VI” opened on 25 June, with Rockstar Games pricing the standard edition at $79.99 ahead of its planned 19 November release. The long-awaited sequel is significant because it arrives more than a decade after the previous main instalment and has endured leaks, delays and wider economic uncertainty during its development.

The game will launch first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while a PC version has not been confirmed. It follows Jason Duval and Lucia Camino after a failed score entangles them in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida, Rockstar’s Florida-inspired setting containing Vice City and several other regions. Rockstar has confirmed supporting characters and locations, but reports that the map is larger than previous games and rumours about the lead actors remain unverified.

  • Pre-orders are live; standard edition costs $79.99.
  • GTA VI is scheduled for 19 November.
  • PC release timing remains unconfirmed.

Grand Theft Auto is a series of open-world video games made by Rockstar Games. Players take part in fictional crime stories while freely exploring large cities and countryside, completing missions and using vehicles, weapons and other activities.

The previous main game, Grand Theft Auto V, came out in 2013 and became one of the best-selling games ever. Its online mode, Grand Theft Auto Online, has also remained active for years, helping make the next main instalment one of the industry’s most closely watched releases.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set in Leonida, a fictional US state inspired by Florida, including the returning city of Vice City. Rockstar Games is the developer and publisher behind the series, and its parent company is Take-Two Interactive.
