Ahead of the theatrical release of Evil Dead Burn, Collider's Perri Nemiroff interviewed three of its stars — Luciane Buchanan, Hunter Doohan and Souheila Yacoub — about the character work behind the franchise's latest and reportedly most gruesome instalment. Co-written and directed by Sébastien Vaniček, the film follows executive producer Lee Cronin's Evil Dead Rise and centres on a grieving widow who uncovers a dark family secret. The interview offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at how the cast built their roles, including details that never make it to the screen.

The actors revealed that Vaniček supplied detailed two-page backstories and unusual reference material, including YouTube links to twitching, upside-down beetles to inspire the Deadites' movements. Buchanan shared an unused backstory in which her character Thya met Doohan's Joseph when he fainted while donating blood. Yacoub, who plays widow Alice, said she developed her character collaboratively with the writers in Paris rather than from a written brief, discussing details such as hair and costume to break from the stereotypical "Parisian girl" seen in American films. The trio also praised absent castmates, notably George Pullar's club scene and Tandi Wright's emotional performance as Susan.
