Ewan McGregor Says Next Obi-Wan Kenobi Project Could Be Tracking Down Yoda or a ‘Big Love Story’ With Wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s ‘Ahsoka’ Character: ‘There’s Got to Be Something’

Ewan McGregor has revealed he has pitched Lucasfilm ideas for a possible new Obi-Wan Kenobi project, suggesting storylines involving a search for Yoda or a romance with Hera Syndulla, the character played by his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead in "Ahsoka". Speaking at the Variety Lounge during the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Scottish actor said he raised the concepts casually with Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni while Filoni was filming "Ahsoka", underlining his enthusiasm to reprise the role in some form.

McGregor floated a plot in which Kenobi tries to reconnect with Yoda after the pair are separated at the end of "Revenge of the Sith", and separately said he grew excited about a potential "big love story" between Obi-Wan and Hera when Winstead joined "Ahsoka", despite acknowledging the characters exist in different timeframes. Filoni recently told Variety that "The Hunt for Ben Solo" film is not currently in development, leaving McGregor's future as Kenobi uncertain, though he said he'd be happy to play the character again in any film or series. He also spoke about relocating back to his native Perthshire in Scotland with his five-year-old son.
