Actors say playwright owes thousands for touring Rangers collapse play
At least ten actors say Stuart Hay, a former BBC comedian and playwright, has not paid them thousands of pounds for work on his touring play about Rangers’ financial collapse. Several are seeking to prevent his production company from being dissolved and are considering legal action, while some audience members also say they have not received refunds for cancelled performances.
Colin and Gill McGowan say they are owed £10,000 for about 11 shows since March; another actor says he is owed around £3,600. Hay reportedly promised to pay cast members after performances in several towns, citing delayed venue payments, seized funds and refund costs. Actors and unions Cairn and Equity say attempts to resolve the dispute have stalled, and the company has overdue accounts at Companies House.
In short
- At least ten actors say Stuart Hay owes them wages.
- The McGowans claim they are owed £10,000.
