Former UFC light-heavyweight title contender Anthony Smith has been arrested in Nebraska on three felony charges, including first-degree domestic violence assault. The 38-year-old American, who fought in the UFC for nearly a decade and was a well-known figure both as a competitor and broadcast analyst, is now in custody awaiting a court appearance.

Smith was booked into Sarpy County Jail on charges of terroristic threats, false imprisonment and first-degree domestic violence assault, and is expected to appear before a judge no later than Friday. He last fought in the UFC in April, losing to Zhang Mingyang, before competing later that month in Gamebred Bareknuckle; he previously challenged Jon Jones for the light-heavyweight title in 2019. Across 24 UFC bouts since his 2016 debut, Smith holds an overall MMA record of 39 wins and 22 losses, and has more recently worked as a UFC broadcast analyst.
