Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has joined Portuguese giants Benfica on a season-long loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, making it his seventh club at the age of just 22. The move continues a whirlwind period for the Colombia international, who has switched clubs repeatedly since leaving Villa, and gives him the chance to establish himself at one of Europe's bigger sides after a turbulent 18 months.

Benfica will pay a £5.19m loan fee, with the option to sign Duran permanently for £25.5m at the end of the 2026-27 season. He joined Villa for £14m in January 2023 before a £71m move to Al-Nassr in January 2025, then had a loan at Fenerbahce cancelled after manager Jose Mourinho's sacking, followed by a spell at Zenit St Petersburg where he scored three goals in nine games. Duran said he was "very grateful" to join Benfica, calling them "the biggest club in Portugal" and stating his ambition to win the title.
