Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Quevin Castro has died aged 25 after collapsing during a pre-season friendly in Lisbon. The Portuguese club Real Sport Clube said he died during Saturday’s match against Estrela de Amadora, prompting tributes from his former clubs and football authorities.
Castro collapsed in the first half at Estadio das Seixas while playing for third-tier Real Sport Clube against top-flight Estrela de Amadora. He joined West Brom in 2021 and made two senior appearances, including a Carabao Cup debut against Arsenal, before a loan spell at Burton Albion; West Brom will mark his death with black armbands and applause in the 25th minute against Burnley.
