Disney has told GameSpot that the disputed Kingdom Hearts promotional artwork was not AI-generated, responding to fan claims prompted by several visual irregularities. The confirmation matters because it addresses growing concern over generative AI in game art, particularly for a franchise closely associated with Disney’s tightly controlled character designs.

The image promoted Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III], announced for newer platforms including Switch 2. Fans highlighted Donald Duck apparently having five fingers, unusual character proportions and distorted background details as possible signs of AI use; Square Enix later replaced some related artwork. Disney’s statement rejects the claim of AI-generated art, but does not by itself settle wider fan speculation about how different versions of the image were produced.
