EXIT Festival Announces ‘Full-Scale Comeback’ in Serbia Following Student-Led Election Victory
EXIT Festival says it will return to Serbia’s Petrovaradin Fortress in 2027, with a full-scale edition planned for 2028. The announcement follows an election victory by a student-led movement that the festival has publicly supported, and comes after political pressure contributed to its decision not to stage an event in Serbia in 2026.
The Student List won 52.71% of the vote and 140 of the 250 parliamentary seats in the 25 October election, though formation of a new government is still pending. EXIT says the 2027 event will be a special edition, as its planned full-scale comeback requires at least 18 months of preparation; dates and programme details have not been announced. Founded in 2000 amid student opposition to Slobodan Milošević, the festival held events in six other countries during its year away.
