Expedition 33, Baldur’s Gate 3 star Jennifer English cancels next role over health concerns
Voice actress Jennifer English, known for playing Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has withdrawn from her role as Gwendolyn, the lead character in the upcoming game Tides of Annihilation. Developer Eclipse Glow Games confirmed the change in a social media post on 17 July, citing personal health reasons, though English will remain involved in an advisory capacity to support the production.
The studio said English informed them in June that she could no longer continue in the part, a decision it said it understood and respected. She had been publicly attached to the role since the game's reveal at a State of Play in February 2025, shortly before her award-winning turn in Expedition 33. Eclipse Glow Games has yet to name her replacement but says the new actress will debut in a playable demo at Gamescom in August; Tides of Annihilation, an Arthurian-inspired action game for PS5, PC and Xbox Series X, still has no confirmed release date.
