EXTOL Announces First New Album In Over A Decade, ‘Aura Of Decay’; Shares ‘The One And The Many’ Single

Blabbermouth · 3 hours ago

Norwegian extreme metal band EXTOL have announced "Aura Of Decay", their sixth studio album and first new record in over a decade, due for release on 6 November via Solid State Records. It follows the band's acclaimed 2013 self-titled album and reunites the group's classic lineup, with guitarist Christer Espevoll returning to the fold, marking a significant comeback for a band regarded as innovators of the genre.

The album was recorded across multiple studios, with mixing and mastering handled by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, and artwork created by Hugh Syme. It contains 11 tracks and reportedly features echoes of the raw, black metal-tinged atmosphere of the band's earlier album "Burial". Alongside the announcement, EXTOL released a new single and visualiser, "The One And The Many", which explores themes of ideological division and postmodern tribalism through unconventional, jarring song structures.
