Rock band Extreme paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during a concert in Detroit, playing a medley of his best-known songs ahead of the first anniversary of his death on 22 July. The band, currently touring as part of Mötley Crüe's "The Return of the Carnival of Sins" tour, used the performance to honour the late Black Sabbath frontman, whose death came just weeks after his final live show, reflecting the wider outpouring of tributes expected from across the rock world as the anniversary approaches.

The tribute took place at the Pine Knob Music Theater, where guitarist Nuno Bettencourt addressed the crowd before launching into hits including "Bark at the Moon", "Crazy Train", "I Don't Know" and "Iron Man". Separately, Osbourne's son Jack released a video sharing his own mixed emotions ahead of the anniversary and asking fans worldwide to mark 22 July by sharing personal stories and memories of his father, whether about his music, live performances or personal encounters, as a way of celebrating his legacy rather than mourning.
