Fallout season 3 starts filming, The Ghoul actor confirms

Polygon · 2 hours ago

Actor Walton Goggins, who plays The Ghoul and Cooper Howard in Prime Video's Fallout, has confirmed that the show's third season is now filming. He shared Instagram photos of himself undergoing the elaborate makeup process to become the irradiated Wasteland mutant, saying he was "back in the saddle", and the official Fallout and Kilter Films accounts reposted the images to verify production had begun. The update matters as the first confirmation that the popular video-game adaptation has moved into active production.

Amazon renewed the series back in May 2025, so a third season was expected. Co-stars Ella Purnell (Lucy MacLean) and Aaron Moten (Maximus) are set to return, though they have not yet commented, while newcomers include Aaron Paul, Emily Mortimer, Manny Jacinto and Thomasin McKenzie, whose roles remain undisclosed. No release date has been announced, but given the sub-two-year gap between the first two seasons, a mid-to-late 2027 return is thought likely. The show has been a major success, with season one drawing over 100 million views and 17 Emmy nominations.

  • Purnell and Moten return; new cast includes Aaron Paul and Thomasin McKenzie.
  • No release date set, but mid-to-late 2027 looks likely.
