Family of missing North Carolina woman who vanished on Caribbean island make heart-breaking decision about search
The family of Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, a 44-year-old woman from Cary, North Carolina, have made the difficult decision to leave Grenada while the official search for her continues. Waddell disappeared after going for a swim at Grand Anse Beach on 22 July, and the case remains an active missing-person investigation with no confirmed explanation for her disappearance.
Waddell was on a three-week holiday with a friend and had left their accommodation with only a swimsuit and towel, leaving her phone, identification and shoes behind. Surveillance footage reportedly showed her swimming before she moved out of view; Grenadian police, the coastguard, divers and local volunteers have searched the island’s southern coast, while authorities have appealed for information from fishermen, boat operators and residents.
