Scotland Women's head coach Sione Fukofuka has stepped down from his role, citing the strain of being separated from his family, who remain in Australia. Forwards coach Dave Butcher will take interim charge as the team prepares for the upcoming WXV Global Series, with Scotland's next match against Canada in six weeks.

Fukofuka, who was appointed late last year after previously serving as United States head coach between 2023 and 2025, led Scotland through the Women's Six Nations. He said he requested release from his contract on compassionate grounds, explaining that his wife's parents have become unwell, making a planned family relocation unfeasible, and that the toll on his young sons had become too great. He stressed the decision had nothing to do with Scottish Rugby or its programme, and performance director David Nucifora said the union respected his reasons while praising his commitment during his time in charge.
