Stephen Root has confirmed he will voice Brian Heder in Grand Theft Auto 6, ending fan speculation sparked by the character’s appearance in the second trailer. The casting matters because Root’s distinctive voice, known especially from King of the Hill, made Brian one of the game’s most recognisable characters despite Rockstar’s secrecy around its cast.

Brian is portrayed as a former Florida Keys drug smuggler who now runs a boatyard with his third wife and may employ or mentor protagonist Jason Duval early in the story. Root joins a tradition of established actors in supporting GTA roles, while the game is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; no PC version has been announced.
