The US Federal Communications Commission has proposed banning products from nine companies suspected of selling rebranded or re-shelled DJI drones and cameras, citing "unacceptable risk" to national security. The move would extend restrictions well beyond DJI itself, targeting firms accused of skirting the agency's Covered List by disguising DJI-made hardware under different brand names, and marks a significant escalation from the fines the FCC had proposed for these companies just a week earlier.

The companies named are Cogito, Fikaxo, Lyno Dynamics, Skyhigh Tech, Spatial Hover, SZ Knowact, WaveGo, Xtra and XAG. This follows the FCC's December 2025 addition of all new foreign-made drones and components to its Covered List, which bars items deemed a security risk from being imported or sold in the US; DJI has called the underlying concerns unsubstantiated and protectionist. Notably, the new proposal also covers "previously authorised equipment" suspected of being rebadged older DJI products, potentially the first use of powers the commission gave itself in October 2025 to retroactively ban listed companies' devices. The FCC is inviting public comments with supporting evidence over the next 30 days.
