A New York City couple returned from holiday to find a stranger had let herself into their apartment after telling their building's doorman she was there to walk their dog. Bill and Yelim Kim spotted the woman lounging on their sofa via a Ring camera notification, sparking hours of frantic calls to police and friends while they were away, and leaving them too shaken to feel safe in their own home.

The woman allegedly pressured the doorman into handing over spare keys by insisting she needed to "get the dogs," despite the Kims never authorising any guest or dog walker. She left after a friend confronted her at the door but returned two days later, still in the same dress and reportedly wearing a hospital bracelet, before bypassing the lobby entirely. She has not been arrested, but the building's management company, Goose Property Management, has dismissed the doorman involved and is reviewing its security procedures. The Kims, whose lease is due for renewal at the end of the month, are now searching for a new place to live.
