Film financiers at the Zurich Summit broadly welcomed a proposed US federal film tax incentive, saying it could bring production back to America and create jobs. The bipartisan bill would offer a 20% credit, potentially rising to 30% with bonuses, although its timing remains uncertain.

The proposal would apply to qualifying productions beginning after 31 December 2026, effectively targeting projects from 2027, but legislation could take years to pass. Supporters cited international examples, while warning that higher incentives might also push up production costs; a Motion Picture Association study estimates the measure could generate $125bn in US production spending and more than 143,000 jobs by 2035.
