James Palko, a Queens-based musician with multiple concurrent projects, has released a new single from Film Major, continuing the lo-fi indie-pop direction established by the project's 2023 debut EP. Beyond his leadership of the power-pop group Pretty Rude and his previous tenure in Taking Meds, Palko maintains an active output across several musical ventures.

'The Board' exemplifies Film Major's fuzzed-out, distortion-heavy indie-pop aesthetic, drawing inspiration from influential 1990s underground musicians such as Sebadoh and Guided By Voices. The track combines grunge-influenced sonic elements with lyrical commentary on financial manipulation and deceptive marketing practices, exploring themes of consumer vulnerability to fraudulent investment schemes.
