Berlin-based sales agency Films Boutique has acquired worldwide rights to Iranian director Mani Haghighi's new documentary, "I Deserve a Lover Whose Every Rise Sets Fiery Dooms Raging Across the Skies," ahead of its world premiere in the Main Slate of the New York Film Festival. The deal marks a reunion between Haghighi and the company, which previously handled his 2018 comedy "Pig," and reflects continued international interest in Iranian cinema despite the country's turbulent recent political backdrop.

The film, set in Tabriz and Tehran during the weeks between the 12-Day War and subsequent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, follows artists Nasser Bakhshi and Roghayeh Najdi, who have built a vast private archive of photographs, documents and discarded objects into an improvised museum documenting overlooked lives, including sex workers, child labourers and ordinary families. Films Boutique CEO Jean-Christophe Simon called it Haghighi's "most formally inventive and culturally urgent documentary feature to date," comparing his voice to filmmakers such as Bergman and Parajanov, while Haghighi expressed enthusiasm at working with the company again ahead of the film's global rollout.
