Final Fantasy 14 Players Deliver Perfect Response to 2026’s PHP Vulnerability

Polygon ·

A major PHP security vulnerability disrupted several websites and services, including Final Fantasy 14, leaving some players unable to log in. Because plants in the game need care on real-world timers, players who were locked out worried their gardens might wither.

Players who could still access the game offered free watering services, sharing ways for others to send them their home locations. After about 24 hours, Square Enix began allowing new logins, and the article says no plants should have died. Housing auto-demolition, briefly paused during the disruption, is due to resume on 26 October.
