Final Fantasy 14’s next expansion, Evercold, will introduce a Final Fantasy 7 Remake-themed raid series and a new tank job called Bastion. The announcements, made at the game’s fan festival, signal a major content update that combines a high-profile crossover with changes to combat, progression and quest design.

The raid series, Beyond the Lifestream, will have three full raid tiers and is being supervised by Final Fantasy 7 Remake writer Kazushige Nojima and artist Tetsuya Nomura; Barret- and Tifa-themed outfits are also planned. Bastion uses twin shields and begins at level 90, while Evercold will add locations including Fargarth and two realmships, optional ordering for some main-story quests, automatic content balancing, expanded character-creation colours, and the Evolved combat system alongside the existing Reborn system.
