His comments underline just how ambitious the FF7 remake project has become and raise doubts about whether other beloved instalments could realistically receive the same treatment, given the scale and resources required.

Speaking about the challenges of expanding classic Final Fantasy games into modern, full-budget productions, Yoshida suggested that titles such as FF6, FF8 or FF9 have stories and worlds dense enough that a remake "would probably end up having to release them in 4 or maybe even 5 installments" rather than matching FF7's three-part structure. This reflects the huge scope-creep seen with FF7 Remake and Rebirth, and suggests that similar remakes for other mainline entries remain a distant, complicated prospect rather than something in active development.
