Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles Updated To Version 1.5.1

Nintendo Life ·

Square Enix has released a minor update for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles on Nintendo Switch, taking the game to Version 1.5.1. The patch follows a much larger update issued last month and mainly fine-tunes the recently introduced New Game + mode, alongside resolving a handful of smaller issues. It matters chiefly to players already invested in replaying the remaster, as it smooths out a feature added only recently rather than introducing significant new content.

The update ensures that all buried items become available for discovery again when starting a fresh New Game + playthrough, though this only applies to save files created after the 1.5.1 patch is installed. Square Enix also made minor text corrections in Traditional Chinese and fixed other unspecified small issues. The previous major update, released last month, had added a Zodiac Compatibility feature, stability improvements and new language support.

In short

  • Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles updated to Version 1.5.1 on Switch.
  • Fixes New Game + so buried items can be found again on new saves.
  • Minor Traditional Chinese text fixes and other small bug corrections included.

Explained simply

Final Fantasy Tactics is a tactical role-playing game set in Ivalice, a fictional land where rival groups compete for power. Players guide a party of characters through turn-based battles, with each character able to learn different skills and take on different roles.

The Ivalice Chronicles is a remastered edition of the game, released for platforms including Nintendo Switch. New Game + lets players start another playthrough while carrying forward elements of their progress, giving returning players a reason to revisit the story and its battles.

Buried items are hidden rewards that players can uncover while exploring or fighting. Changes to how these items carry over can affect what is available in later playthroughs, so updates to New Game + matter most to players replaying the game.
