Final Fantasy X 25th Anniversary Video Released Ahead Of Switch 2 Launch

Nintendo Life · 1 day ago

Square Enix has released a new video celebrating the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy X, which first launched in Japan on 19th July 2001, timed just before the release of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster on Switch 2. The re-release arrives on 23rd July, but it appears to offer little beyond what is already available on the original Switch version, raising questions about its value for existing owners.

The official listing highlights features already present in the Switch release, including HD-remastered character and background graphics, remastered music, restored content from the International Version, and quality-of-life additions such as high-speed mode and the option to disable random encounters. Notably, there is no upgrade path for those who already own the Switch version, meaning they would need to pay the full $49.99 / £44.99 price again. Final Fantasy X originally reached Europe on 24th May 2002 and remains a beloved entry in the series.

  • Square Enix marks Final Fantasy X's 25th anniversary with new video.
  • Switch 2 HD Remaster launches 23rd July, mirroring existing Switch version.
  • No upgrade path; Switch owners must repurchase at full price.
