Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV Online will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on 4th August 2026, giving Nintendo’s new hybrid console access to the long-running MMORPG. The release matters because it expands the game to another major platform and includes a free trial, potentially making it easier for new players to try it before subscribing.

Pre-orders are available on the Switch 2 eShop, with the Starter Edition priced at £11.99, the Complete Edition at £44.99 and the Complete Collector’s Edition at £87.99; Dawntrail editions are also being sold separately. The game is estimated to require 117GB of storage, while Square Enix says more details will follow.
