Niu Niu’s “Final Payment” and Dong Jie’s “Zoom In, Zoom Out” each won two awards at the 10th Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival in China. “Final Payment” took the Fei Mu Award for best film and best actor for Niu Jianrong, the director’s father; “Zoom In, Zoom Out” won the Fei Mu jury award and the Cinephilia Critics’ Award. The results spotlighted both films among the festival’s Chinese competition entries.

“Final Payment” follows a homeowner and contractor disputing the final bill for a renovation, based on an experience of Niu Jianrong, an experienced director making his lead acting debut. Its best film prize includes RMB1 million (about $149,000), shared equally between the director and the film’s Chinese distributor. Other winners included Sun Yi for best actress, Xu Zao for best director for “Light Pillar”, and Rafiki Fariala’s “Congo Boy”, which won the international competition’s Roberto Rossellini Award and $20,000.
