Newly reported details fill out the festival’s international and short-film awards: Rafiki Fariala’s “Congo Boy” won the Roberto Rossellini Award for best film, while Rafael Manuel took best director for “Filipiñana”. The 10th Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival also recognised films by Lenti Liang and Wang Wenting, alongside several contributions to Chinese cinema.

The earlier headline winners were Niu Niu’s “Final Payment”, which won best film and best actor for Niu Jianrong, and Dong Jie’s “Zoom In, Zoom Out”, which received the jury and critics’ awards. “Final Payment” follows a homeowner’s dispute with a contractor over renovation costs, inspired by Jianrong’s experience; its RMB1 million prize is split between the director and the Chinese distributor. “Congo Boy” receives $20,000, while “Filipiñana” earns Manuel $10,000; “Our Secrets” won best short film and “Black Goat” best student short.
