Welsh cyclist Emma Finucane has made Commonwealth Games history by becoming the first sprint cyclist to win four track gold medals at a single Games, adding the keirin title to her earlier golds in the team sprint, individual sprint and 1,000m time trial. Her achievement, secured over four consecutive days at the Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, surpasses the previous best of three track titles held by Australia's Anna Meares and New Zealand's Ellesse Andrews, who finished second to Finucane in the keirin final.

The 23-year-old is now also the first Welsh woman to win four golds at a single Commonwealth Games and has become Wales' most successful female athlete in Games history, overtaking Para-sprinter Olivia Breen just two days after she set the mark. Weightlifter David Morgan remains Wales' overall most decorated Commonwealth Games athlete with nine golds and three silvers. Finucane's keirin win was Wales' 31st medal of the Games, with the nation now on nine gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze.
