Firefighters tackle large Barnsley scrapyard blaze
Firefighters have spent the night battling a large fire at a scrapyard in Carlton, Barnsley, after being called to the scene on Saturday evening. Social media footage showed huge plumes of black smoke rising over the area, prompting South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to advise nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.
At its peak, the response involved ten fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and several operational support vehicles at the site on Boulder Bridge Lane. The blaze involved large quantities of scrap metal and tyres, and crews were expected to remain at the scene throughout Sunday morning to bring it fully under control.
