Tokyo Game Show organisers cancelled the event’s final day, reducing its first planned five-day programme in 30 years to four days. The decision was made as Typhoon Dujuan approached, with officials prioritising the safety of attendees, exhibitors and staff amid forecasts of worsening weather and transport disruption.

The show floor remained open on 20 September, although changes were possible, while tickets for 21 September were due to be refunded. Dujuan, the 25th named typhoon of 2026, was forecast to bring almost 16 inches of rain to the Kanto region, with flights cancelled and some East Japan Railway services suspended.
