First pictures of ex-butcher & childhood best friend who helped him cover up “body in the barrel murder”
Photographs have been published of Christopher Wright, a former butcher, and Karl Schwalbe, his childhood friend, as they stand trial in connection with the death of Richard Dyson. Prosecutors allege that Wright murdered Dyson and that Schwalbe helped conceal the body; both men deny the allegations, which are being heard at Sheffield Crown Court.
Dyson, 55, disappeared in November 2019 and his remains were found in a concrete-filled barrel at a farm in Barnsley in July 2025. Wright, 73, denies murder, preventing lawful burial and firearms offences, while Schwalbe, 72, denies perverting the course of justice.
