Fitter, happier, more productive: Arsenal could hardly have started better | Jonathan Wilson
Arsenal have won all three of their opening Premier League fixtures this season, most recently beating Chelsea despite falling behind, and have looked comfortably the better side in each match while varying their approach. Manager Mikel Arteta's team appear to be playing with a freshness and authority that was often missing last season, when they finished second for a third consecutive year, and the strong start suggests renewed confidence now that pressure has eased.
Wins over Coventry City and Aston Villa were followed by Sunday's victory against Chelsea, in which David Raya made a crucial late save to deny Estêvão. Individual players look sharper too: Martin Ødegaard has already scored twice in the league after managing just one goal all last season, Bukayo Saka appears refreshed despite a heavy workload, and Riccardo Calafiori has forged an early attacking understanding with Christos Tzolis. Chelsea, under Xabi Alonso, also showed signs of improvement, offering a tighter midfield than in previous games.
